MCE ‘disciplines’ polling agent at Ewutu Senya

The ongoing voter registration exercise has seen many confusions between the two (2) main giant political parties NPP, NDC.

The case of the Ewutu Senya East Constituency , an NDC polling agent by name Daniel Mensah was slapped by the MCE , Hon. Michael Essuman Mensah. The incident happened at Lamptey Mills Polling station.

Narrating his side of the story to the media , the NDC guy said “He was at the polling centre monitoring and taking his daily records of the process at the centre , when the MCE from no where with his men rush on him and slashed him with two heavy slaps”.

He said the MCE pulled him to a corner and uttered those slaps. The incident happened around 6:00pm as they were packing for the day, where the MCE with his men from no where came. After interrogation with me , “the MCE pulled me to a corner and without being aware released slapped from behind”.

Earlier that day , the MP for the constituency , Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson had went to that polling centre to monitor the process where He ( the Daniel Mensah ) shouted on her, by saying , ” the MP is coming so social distancing has to work ” on a high pitch of his voice He said , deeming it to be an insult .

To him, his utterances didn’t go well with the MP , so He quickly rushed to her to render his apology before she even left the scene.

The MCE said her MP told him after tireless touring in the polling centres , decided to have the last visit to that supposed polling centre, then that NDC guy by name Danny as they used to call him shouted and disgraced her.

This triggered the MCE to go with his men at the polling centre to ascertain what the MP had told him earlier. In reaction , the MCE debunks those allegation of slapping that NDC guy , saying He is in good terms with him , so He doesn’t see the reason why He should do such an action against him , Danny is his ‘ body body’ He stressed

Responding to those allegation , Hon. Michael Essuman Mensah said He didn’t do anything of such sorts , all allegation by that guy is baseless and based on no fact and evidence.

Similar issues have happened in the various centres of registration.

Invisible attacks and brutalizing party members and assulting them ; a case of Hon. Collins Dauda in the Asutifi South ,where pepper was sprayed on his face in the course of touring his constituency to see the process.

And at Asawase constituency in the Ashanti region, the sitting MP , Hon. Muntaka Mubarack raised alarm that an additional polling centre that has been added which He the MP didn’t know anything about , again a polling centre has been mounted at the premises of an NPP man in the Asawase which poses a danger ahead of the registration , because the NDC supporters didnt know why such a polling centre should be there.

This took the effort of the security to let calmness prevail.

Many of such stories are almost heard across the length and breadth of the country in the polling centres which  posses a challenge to the peace and smoothness of the ongoing process.
