IbisTek Limited, a fully owned-Ghanaian company through a concession agreement with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, as part of the Takoradi Port expansion project, has signed an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with an international marine engineering firm; Jan De Nul (JDN), for the construction of an on-dock container and multipurpose terminal – \u201cAtlantic Terminal Service\u201d at the Takoradi Port.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the project consultant Royal Hanskoning DHV, request for proposals were sent to seven EPC contractors including JDN, and with an impressive and cost effective proposal they won the contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday, December, 19th, 2018 at the project site inside the Takoradi Port the EPC contract was signed by the Chairman of IbisTek Limited, Kwame Gyan and a representative of Jan De Nul, Filipo Morobe making the contract binding and ushers Jan De Nul to commence work immediately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to Business Today on the sidelines of the signing ceremony Chairman of IbisTek Lawyer Kwame Gyan mentioned that, the EPC contract will see to the construction of 795 meter of container terminal quay, a container yard of approximately 23 hectors, 8 Ship-to-Shore (STS) gantry cranes, a Rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) terminal operations, and a 700 meters of multipurpose terminal with equipment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Estimated at about USD200 million, the project has a \ntwenty-four-month schedule, and is set to be completed in three main \nphases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe fortunes of IbisTek and GPHA when you come to this particular port, are intertwined; Our success is your success, our failure is your failure. So let\u2019s continue in the same spirit of team work that has brought us this far,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this part, Mr. Filipo Morobe who represented Jan De Nul in the \nsigning of the contract assured the gathering that his company will not \ncompromise on the integrity they earned in the dealing with GPHA, and \nthus would complete the project within the scheduled time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn 2012, we sign our first contract and a couple of years later, a second contract. And even last year, a third contract. And after many years of smooth cooperation with GPHA, and also with the support of local politicians, current and previous government, we are proud to show what you see around you,\u201d Mr Morobe stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director of the Port of Takoradi, Captain Ebenezer Afadzi re-echoed \ntheir preparedness to see to the execution of the project within the \nstipulated time paying attention to details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He however hinted that by the end of June 2019, Takoradi Port will receive it first container vessel at the Multi-purposed terminal. \u201cAnd so on behalf of management of Takoradi Port, we want to assure all of you especially IbesTek that GPHA is solidly behind you,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
