Corporate Communications expert and seasoned Broadcast Journalist, \nPhilip Osei Bonsu who hosts Ghana\u2019s biggest political talk show on radio\n (Ekosii sen) has reviewed the second edition of the biggest concert \n(Made in Taadi) in the Western Region headlined by multiple award \nwinning Artiste Kofi Kinaata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OB as he is affectionately called by his listeners review\u2019s the concert that had over 26,000 audience below (unedited);<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sekondi-Takoradi\u2019s multiple award winning Artiste, Kofi Kinata promised and he delivered. The 2nd edition of the #MadeInTaadi<\/a> Concert\n happened on Saturday. It was a day-long celebration beginning with a \nchildren\u2019s party in the morning and a mega concert in the evening. I sat\n through the entire concert and here are my observations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STAGE
\nThe stage was great. Extremely elegant. Bigger than last year\u2019s. It had \nenough space for artistes to move about and engage the crowd. It was \nfitted with very modern equipment. Sound quality was amazing. \nUnfortunately, it had no comfortable waiting area for Artistes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CROWD 
\nThe crowd I saw at the Jubilee Park yesterday is more than any I have \nseen in my over 10 years stay in the Oil City. It was absolutely \nunbelievable. Organizers should probably be thinking of an alternative \nvenue. Fact is if there is any open air concert that has surpassed the \nWestside Carnival in terms of patronage, this is it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was it down to massive publicity or this was out of sheer love for the people\u2019s HERO?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNDERGROUND ARTISTES
\nAnother year; Another opportunity was given to upcoming Takoradi \nartistes to prove their mettle. Once again, many flattered to deceive. \nTheir performances were at best average. We still have a long way to go \nto build the next generation of Takoradi artistes. Afezie Perry, Hindu, \nSinglet, King Lucaz, Aya, Qwesi Flex et al are talented but \u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AYESEM and NERO X 
\nAyesem lived up to the hype with his performance last year. Nero X was \nalso at his usual best last year. He proved why he is still the best \nstage performer in these parts. It was refreshing to see them on all the\n publicity materials for this year\u2019s event. Strangely, they were no \nwhere to be found. I think it took something away from the concert this \nyear. The organizers owe us some explanations. And, I almost forgot; \nPastor Joe Beechem also didn\u2019t show up. Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAIN ARTISTES 
\nPappy Kojo? He turned the jubilee park upside down last year. This year,\n he lost his mojo. He was flat. His friend Joey B didn\u2019t help matters \neither. He\u2019s just not your typical carnival artiste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edem? He put in the worst performance from any of the big name \nartistes. He just couldn\u2019t bond with the crowd. How he left the stage, \nsummed up his evening: Terrible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keche? Great duo. Their energy level was amazing. I enjoyed them. They obviously felt at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donzy? I must admit, this guy is hugely underrated. He is good. We \nhave to begin paying attention to him. He was one of the best performers\n on that stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SARKODIE? He proved why he\u2019s the biggest thing in Ghana music. He was\n the star of the night. A delight to behold. He really moved the crowd, \ndishing out hits after hits after hits. You either SARKorDIE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kofi Kinaata? Words fail me when it comes to describing this young \nman. He is a phenomenon. The pride of the West. I dare say he\u2019s a \nLEGEND!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MCs 
\nYoofi Eyeson was great. He blended so well with Too Much of Junka Town \nfame who I must admit cut down on his excesses. Dr. Pounds and PM were \ngreat as usual. Very creative MCs. They always had something to excite \nthe crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DJs
\nDJ Derek was my revelation of the night. Is he known for doing the things he did on the night? He\u2019s simply incredible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PUBLICITY 
\nNana Kwesi Coomson and the PR team must once again be commended for a \njob well done. That was excellent. The buzz was all over. #MadeInTaadi18\n was number one on Twitter trends a day after the concert. That\u2019s an \nincredible feat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHILDREN\u2019S PARTY
\nWonderful addition to the package. A nice way to build brand affinity \namongst the young ones. Will it be a one-off event? Time will tell but \nconsidering the resource constraints, I will not be surprised if it \ndoesn\u2019t happen next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHALLENGES
\n*Time management is still an issue. The concert ended at almost 4am. That\u2019s unpardonable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Transition between performances should be well managed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Crowd control was HELL. The security men on duty were clearly \noverwhelmed. They at a point resorted to brutalizing people. Organizers \nshould please pay attention to that worrying trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Is there any reason why #MadeInTaadiConcert<\/a> has\n no headline sponsor? From deep throat sources close to the Organizers, \nKinata spent some GHc120,000 on the concert this year. And that\u2019s from \nhis personal resources as a way of giving back. He did same last year \ntoo. This is obviously unsustainable. The team must do more next year to\n bring in sponsors. That\u2019s nonnegotiable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To conclude, let me say I\u2019m not a fan of grading events, but if I\u2019m pushed, I will give Organizers 90% for a job well done. This was certainly a huge improvement on what we saw last year. Kudos to Team MOVE<\/p>\n\n\n\n
