Nana Asafoankye Badu, a.k.a ‘Anyen Mpo Suro’, the National chairman of Concerned Transport Operators Union of T.U.C, on Sunday December 9, 2018, called on drivers, passengers, the police service and other road users to do well to avoid accidental cases on our roads during and after this year\u2019s Christmas celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an exclusive interview at Wasa Akropong with Rivers FM\u2019s Kaakyire Kwasi Afari, the Union chairman who doubles as Wasa Amenfi East New Patriotic Party Constituency chairman admitted that though accident is bound to occur, some cases may be avoidable if precautions are taken on the roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said, Ghanaians and the government as a whole would be\nhappy if the coountry record accident free Christmas celebration. Adding that,\nthis can only be achieved when measures and precautions are taken by road\nusers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nana Asafoankye Badu stated, that the rise of accidental\ncases in the country has compelled the government to invest heavily in the Road\nSafety Commission to sensitize the public on Road safety tips and precautions. According\nto him, such allocated funds could have been used to finance other sectors of\nthe economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Concerned Operators Union National chairman urged\npassengers who board vehicles, especially, the commercial vehicles to respects\nand exercise patience for drivers handling their lives on the road. He also\nadvised drivers to abstain from alcoholism, wrong overtaking, speeding and\nensuring proper maintenance of their vehicles before plying the roads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He again urged the commercial drivers to cherish and hold\nthe lives of the passengers with care and appealed to the police personnels\nassigned to various duties to ensure professionalism in their operations on the\nroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nana Asafoankye Badu said, the police against extorting\nmoney from drivers as bribe since that could lead to abandonment of their\nobliged duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
