Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) has carried out a \ndemolition exercise, to clear containers and other illegal structures \nerected around the Kwesimintsim car station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. John Davies, the Presiding Member, said adequate notice was given to the affected people, mostly traders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They had been occupying the place without authorization and the \nassembly engaged them, last year, to relocate their businesses to the \nApremdo Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the exercise became necessary after they ignored the order by the assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Davies added that steps had been taken to prevent anybody from putting up illegal structures there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police officers would be detailed alongside the assembly\u2019s own guards to keep unauthorized persons off the place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Presiding member urged all occupants of unapproved spaces to \nrelocate to the Apremdo market particularly operators of second hand \nclothing to give way for investors to commence the modern car park \nproject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traffic congestion is also gradually becoming a daily hurdle for \npedestrians, drivers and people who come to town to do business and the \nconstruction of a modern car park would be in the right direction to \nsave the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Davies therefore reminded dealers of second-hand clothing \noperating within that space to as a matter of urgency move to the \nApremdo Market just like the transport services who were now solely \noperating within the Apremdo market for convenience and appropriate \nplanning of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
