Primeval Media-\norganizers of the J.A. Kufuor Cup match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Obuasi\nAshgold, has said, the proposed replay of the match, was at the instruction of\nMr. Simon Osei-Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister and other stake holders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The match failed to produce a winner after 120\nminutes of action, last Sunday, with the organizers calling for a replay,\namidst protests from fans and media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A statement signed by Jeffery Asare, Executive\nDirector of Primeval Media said, the Regional Minister, in consultation with\nthe headline sponsors, Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) and the two clubs, decided\non the replay after 120 minutes of action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMr. Osei-Mensah, in a meeting with\nstakeholders, insisted that, the replay would further build unity among the two\nclubs, as animosity between them in recent times, had not been the best,\u201d the\nstatement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement said, the Regional Minister at\nthe meeting noted that, the massive attendance provided, an opportunity for the\nregion to whip up the support and interest of people in football after months\nof starvation, following the Anas Expose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister also noted that, it was a\ncritical opportunity to revive and build a strong support base for the two\nteams in the region, he supervises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement however apologized to fans, the\nmedia and the general public for the unfortunate incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also expressed appreciation to Mr. Isaac\nKwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah, Ashanti\nRegional Minister for the successful organization the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe also wish to express appreciation to\nBantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, who represented Asantehene Otumfuo\nOsei Tutu II, Professor Patrick Twumasi, Director General of the National\nSports Authority (NSA), for their kind support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are also grateful to headline sponsors\nUniversal Merchant Bank (UMB) and other supporting sponsors such as, SIC\nInsurance Company Limited, Royce Energy Drink, Hisense<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ghana Limited, aegis, Ghana Gas Company and\nGhana Free Zones Board for providing the needed financial backing for the\norganisation of the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an organisation we cannot ignore the\nmassive support the media provided us before, during and after the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
