The NDC Professionals Forum International has discredited the recent publicized report by the University of Ghana; saying \u201cit\u2019s just another propaganda piece and a dent on the intellectual credibility of the country\u2019s academia\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nresearch conducted by the Political\nScience Department of the University of Ghana, depicted that President Nana\nAkufo-Addo will floor former president John Dramani Mahama hands down should\nelections be held today. The results presented\nby Head of Political Science Department of the university, Dr. Maame\nGyekye-Jandoh, on Wednesday, showed President Akufo-Addo would have led the\npoll with 49.3% with John Mahama trailing behind with 33.3%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But speaking from his US base,\nPresident of the NDC Pro-forum International, Mr. Arnold Appiah said the\nresearch by the University is a hopeless case to suggest that President Akufo\nAddo will win a second term. According to him, \u201cthis report has to be discredited,\nit has no merit, it is intellectually dishonest, it doesn\u2019t meet the basic logic\nof common sense, not to say the least\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The research which sampled\nabout 5,000 Ghanaians nationwide touched on some areas including the economy,\neducation, campaign promises, government policies and programmes among others. Dr. Gyekye-Jandoh had explained that\ntwo questions were asked respondents, one being which party they would vote for\nif elections were held today, and secondly, which candidate they would vote for,\nbut Mr. Appiah opined that the polls should have been specific on the exact\npoints the university wanted to raise and the results it sought to get.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAccording\nto the report, they put out two questions; primarily which party they will vote\nfor if elections were held today and also which candidate they would vote for. They\ndid not put in that; which party would you vote for and why? Or if its candidate\nA or B that you would want to vote for. Why would you want to vote for him?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Further questioning the motive of the research, Mr\nAppiah fumed that, \u201c\u2018why\u2019\nnever came, and indeed the \u2018why\u2019 is the most important part without which the argument\nis flawed\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the NDC Pro-forum as a\nprofessional group is not happy with the results. \u201cIt is pathetic that we have leadership\nin the intellectual environment that is supposed to be doing what would have\nenhanced academic discourse in a positive light rather seeking to be more of a\npropaganda tool\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Appiah further explained that\nthe NDC in its worse form has always maintained a 44.4% since 2000 elections; so,\nits mind boggling to suggest that NPP had 49.3% and NDC had 33% \u201cwhich is ridiculous\u201d.\nHe said the result does not meet the requirement of a credible poll for the\nparty to consider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
