A security analyst Adam Bonaa has lashed out at the hierarchy of the \nEconomic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in handling the case \ninvolving the CEO of Menzgold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nana Appiah Mensah is on police wanted list for allegedly defrauding \nby false pretence having jumped bail in a case being investigated by \nEOCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to Morning Starr host Francis Abban on Monday, Mr. Bonaa \nsaid the investigative outfit failed Ghanaians in dealing with the case \nof NAM 1 \u2013 the moniker of the Menzgold CEO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m still surprised that the EOCO boss is still at work\u2026 in any \nserious country I don\u2019t think he\u2019ll be at post,\u201d Mr. Bonaa stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis whole issue is confusing. The EOCO people are still at post and\n all they do is to go after politicians and I think that is sad,\u201d he \nstressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are conflicting reports that NAM 1 has been arrested in Dubai, \nbut the police CID boss Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has denied any knowledge of \nsuch information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Bonaa is worried about the lack of synergy between the security agencies in Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added: \u201cInstead of interrogating the CID [Criminal Investigation \nDepartment], I will rather interrogate EOCO. If indeed it is NAM1 that \nhas been arrested in Dubai then it tells us clearly that there is no \nsynergy between our security services.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, a circuit court issued a bench warrant for NAM 1\u2019s arrest for allegedly defrauding by false pretence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUntil the CID came in, nobody was looking for NAM 1,\u201d Mr. Bonaa \nnoted. \u201cA bail was granted, NAM1 jumped bail and nothing was done. EOCO \nwas never looking for him until the CID came in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is a whole ministry funded with our monies in charge of security but nothing is happening,\u201d Mr. Bonaa stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSecurity officers can be sent to Dubai to confirm if it is NAM1 that\n has been arrested so that the necessary processes can be followed. \nGhana to Dubai is not too far,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the Dubai police have denied arresting the wanted Ghanaian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have not arrested any Ghanaian national with that name [Nana Appiah Mensah] in our system,\u201d A Dubai intelligence officer told Starr News\u2019 Ibrahim Alhassan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
