\n Ghana\u2019s Deputy Attorney General, Joseph Dindiok Kpemka in an interview \n monitored by Newsghana on Accra based Joy FM on Monday, 14 January 2019\n noted that government has sent a delegation to Dubai to broker a \npossible extradition deal for NAM 1. \n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A high-powered Ghanaian delegation comprising experts in diplomacy, law and security, is headed for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to broker a deal that will possibly see the Arabian country extradite Nana Appiah Mensah, who is wanted by Ghanaian authorities for fraud, back home”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\n embattled CEO of gold-trading firm Menzgold Ghana Limited, which has \nthe funds of several thousands of Ghanaian investors locked up as of \nAugust 2018, was arrested by Emirati authorities in Dubai on 7 December \n2018 for allegedly defrauding an Arabian of $51 million in a gold deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1, has also been declared \nwanted back home in connection with fraud charges. A warrant for his \narrest was recently issued by the police, thus, the efforts by the \nGhanaian authorities to have him repatriated back home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019ll be people from the CID [Criminal Investigations \nDepartment], there\u2019ll be people from EOCO [Economic and Organised Crime \nOffice] and there\u2019ll be people from National Security. Of course, it\u2019s \ngoing to be a delegation consisting of experts in security matters and \nthen in diplomacy and law. So, a combination of the three\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation, according to Mr Kpemka, is \u201csupposed to meet the \nauthorities there with our consulate and our mission there and then the \nprocesses would be gone through for us to ascertain everything and then \nmeet the security authorities and the government to get the way forward \nas far as bring him back to Ghana to answer to the charges is \nconcerned\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd I have told you that His Excellency the president himself is so much interested in getting a resolution to this matter. And as I said, we had a meeting which the National Security Minister himself, who is so much concerned and so much determined to get to the bottom of the matter, looked at the issues before the composition of this committee that will be visiting Dubai to ascertain the facts on the ground and combine diplomacy and law as I indicated earlier, to see to the fact that he\u2019s brought back here to Ghana\u201d, the MP for Tempane added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
