Skyy News have learnt that the Ghana Immigration Service is \nconsidering repatriating the Manager of the Ghana Household Utilities \nManufacturing Company Limited (GHUMCO) Mr. Zhu; the Chinese national who\n coerced Ghanaian workers to apologize to his dogs after being bitten by\n the animal. The Ghana Immigration Service in collaboration with the \nBureau of National Investigation (BNI) picked up Mr. Zhu and the human \nresources manager of the company for interrogations yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Zhu and his management team are facing two counts of charges \nwhich include, human right abuse, and breach of the labor laws of Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports are that a total of five workers have suffered from severe \ndog bites at the company\u2019s premises, out of which two refused to render \nan apology to the dogs, which subsequently led to their dismissal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three others due to the maltreatment resigned upon the request of\n the manger to render the apology to the animal. Western Region Region \nCoordinator for the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) Gyan \nPeter Gyan, in an interview with Skyy News\u2019 Nana Yaw Kumi intimated that\n the country\u2019s labour act frowns on such treatment met out at workers \nirrespective of their nationality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor the labour issues, ICU has written to the \nstanding negotiation committee which will deal with it\u2026the abuse of \nhuman rights is being handled by the immigration and as I speak to you, \nthe workers have submitted their various reports including the dog bite \nvictims involved, and the national union has also submitted our own \nreport\u201d, he explained.<\/em><\/p>

\u201cWe want government and for that matter immigration to look into \nthis issue because as we see now, the man\u2019s continues stay at the \nfactory is a threat to the workers which may cause industrial unrest and\n as a law abiding workers, we don\u2019t want to create any chaos in the \ncountry so we want him out<\/em>\u201d, <\/em>Mr. Gyan Peter Gyan added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

On another count, the workers are alleging that no safety protocols \nand ware are taken at the workplace, and thus predisposes them to \nserious risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of these workers according to Mr. Gyan Peter Gyan work under substandard safety conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGHUMCO is known for poor working conditions, it is \none company which do not respect the country\u2019s safety standards. it is \nsad to see workers working in a hot factory barefooted, some even work \nhalf naked in such hot conditions, the workers have complained severally\n but the company seem unconcerned they wear their own cloths in working \nno safety boots, no trousers and shirts, no gloves nothing\u2019<\/em> he argued.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
