A brand<\/a>\u00a0is essentially who you are or what a thing is. What one or a thing has come to be known for or represent.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Normally\n that should be easy to do since nobody must struggle to be \nthemselves. But who we are will not always be appropriate for business. \nThat is why we must deliberately identify what the market wants and \nbecome it for the sake of business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The market may want to be us, that is easy but not always but we must be the market always. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imagine\n situations where you have your private preference but you work within \nan organisation whose market expect standards you don’t have?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\n is what this article seeks to inform on. Always be your market. Your \nmarket is what pays the bill. What the people want to buy, whether you \nare or not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\n must be you in your professional best. Everyone has something to offer.\n But that must be offered within a professional guise or context. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professionalism is the ethical cloth you wear to offer the world yourself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s say naturally you motivate people. So a motivational speaker. That has nothing to do with keeping your words or not. But\n combining professionalism with profession requires that the \nmotivational speaker must be on time to deliver at the conference when \nhe says he will. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\n the people pay for is the motivation but without the ethical value of \nadhering to time, you will lose the market for reasons other than the \nquality of your work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When\n people say \u201cthings don’t work in Africa\u201d, it is not a quality \nassessment comment. It is and remains the values with which we deliver \nour products and services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are\n we on time; are we sincere with our comments, estimates, and \nprojections? Do we lie about our products and do we accept \nresponsibility for our failings? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do we care about our products to preserve them within the best environment, among others?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those are ethical questions to sell not necessarily ethical products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Individuals must understand this to succeed in business at the individual level as well as the corporate level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we fail here, we fail there.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
