Ghana\u2019s Niche Cocoa is to be served at the ongoing World Economic Forum<\/a> in Davos, Switzerland.

Absa partnered with Niche Cocoa, the leading privately operated cocoa processing company in Ghana to give visitors to Absa\u2019s pop-up venue in Davos to sample some of their mouthwatering products.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Executive Officer of Absa, Maria Ramos said, \u201cAbsa is \nparticularly proud to be representing the African continent this year \nwith a pop\u2010up venue on the Davos Promenade, the strip connecting the \nConference Centre and most hotels.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added, \u201cOur venue will serve as Absa\u2019s base for the duration of the Davos meetings and will provide us with an immersive destination for guests interested in Absa, in Davos<\/a>.\u201d

Ms Ramos said, \u201cAs we take Africa to Davos and the world to show our true potential, we will tell our rich story and recognize our clients as the core of our business. To showcase how their businesses also represent the potential of our continent, we have invited a selection of clients from key African markets such as Kenya, South Africa, Uganda and Ghana to partner with us in Davos. Products such as chocolates from Niche Cocoa will be served at our store to showcase some of our continent\u2019s finest products.\u201d \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Niche Cocoa<\/strong>

\nChocolate is a guilty pleasure for some and a decadent delight for \nothers. But what is universal is its smooth goodness and the way it \nmelts in the mouth. Niche Cocoa realised this truth and opened in 2011 \nas a cocoa processing company producing high-quality products from 100 \nper cent Ghanaian cocoa beans.
\n 
\nSince it opened its doors, Niche has shown an unwavering commitment to \nquality and fair trade, so it is little surprise that it has established\n itself as the country\u2019s leading bean-to-bar producer that is fully \norganic, Halaal, Kosher and Fair Trade certified.
\n 
\nThis dedication saw Niche awarded the Ghanaian President\u2019s National \nAwards for Export Achievement as Exporter of The Year for three \nconsecutive years in 2013, 2014 and 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Niche offers a range of premium products, from semi-finished cocoa \nproducts like natural cocoa liquor, natural and deodorized cocoa butter,\n natural and alkalized cocoa cake and natural and alkalized cocoa powder\n to refined industrial bulk chocolate and confectionery (chocolate bars)\n for supply to the chocolate, ice cream and bakery sectors.

\nThe semi-finished products are exported to cocoa traders globally and \nmarketed under the name \u201cGhana Prime Brand\u201d, while the refined \nconfectionary products such as chocolate bars, chocolate spreads and \ninstant drinks are geared specifically towards the domestic market.
\n 
\nEvery year, the company produces a staggering 60 000 tonnes of these \nproducts \u2013 a veritable feast of flavour. Production is not the only end \ngoal, though: Niche has prioritised sustainability and the ongoing \nsupport of the country\u2019s cocoa farmers.
\n 
\nThe company actively supports cocoa farmers through agreements it has \nwith two co-operatives to purchase certified beans, which serves as a \nsustainable investment because Niche is a UTZ certified processor. UTZ \nis the largest programme for the sustainable farming of cocoa and coffee\n in the world.
\n 
\nPart of Niche\u2019s sustainability and support activities also include \nsponsorship of community service projects and paying premium prices to \norganically certified suppliers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investment in these areas enables Niche to expand its sourcing from farmers who grow the finest cocoa beans and who implement preventive measures to eliminate environmental and social risks. \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0

\u2022 \u00a0 \u00a0Approximately 70% of the world’s cocoa currently comes from West and Central Africa: Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon.
\u2022 \u00a0 \u00a0The majority of this cocoa is grown on nearly two million small, independent family farms that are less than two hectares (5 acres) in size.
