Member of Parliament for Asawase and Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed has urged the august house through the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye to punish MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong for contempt of parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According\nto Hon. Muntaka, the conduct of the Assin Central legislator, in public is\nembarrassing and uncalled for; especially when he incited the public against a\ncitizen which led to his death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahmed Hussein-Suale who since been buried<\/a>, was allegedly shot dead in Madina on night by two gunmen on a motorbike who shot into the car he was driving. This occurred months after the Assin Central MP exposed him in the aftermath of the #Number12 expos\u00e9 on corruption in Ghana football over allegations that he [Ahmed] was wicked and must be beaten. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although no links have been drawn between the MP\u2019s call to violence and the murder, the current development has forced some Ghanaians to criticise the controversial MP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Mr. Agyapong who also doubles as the Chairman for the Communication Select Committee of Parliament on various platforms has denied involvement<\/a> saying he is well placed and will gain nothing should he take away the life of the Tiger Eye investigative journalist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Muntaka however made his case on the standing orders of the house; order 53\/1L and article 112 of the 1992 constitution which states clearly the conduct of a member of Parliament that breaches the privileges and how a member of Parliament can carry him or herself. Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, supported this request by the Minority Chief Whip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaker of the house has then directed that Kennedy Ohene Agyapong be taken to the Privileges Committee for further interrogations. In an interview with APT NEWS\u2019<\/strong>, Theresa Adezewa Ayittey<\/strong>, Muntaka Mubarak said it is about time some level of discipline is instilled in members of parliament so as to bring some sanity in the political scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
