{"id":2371,"date":"2019-01-31T09:22:00","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T09:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aptnewsghana.com\/?p=2371"},"modified":"2019-01-31T09:22:07","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T09:22:07","slug":"health-nurturing-care-framework-launched-in-accra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aptnewsghana.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/31\/health-nurturing-care-framework-launched-in-accra\/","title":{"rendered":"Health: Nurturing Care Framework launched in Accra"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Minister of Health Kweku Agyeman\nManu has said measures are being put in place to strengthen the primary\nhealthcare system through the expansion of the community -based health planning\nand services (CHIPS) program which continues to receive massive investments\nfrom both government and its partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that these are geared&nbsp;towards\nthe building of a resilient&nbsp;community health system that meets the health\ncare needs of women and children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representing the minister at the\u00a0national stakeholders meeting which saw the launch of the Nurturing Care Framework held in Accra, the director for policy, monitoring and evaluation at the ministry of health Emmanuel Ankrah Odame\u00a0stated that the sustainable development goals have embraced the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/maternal_child_adolescent\/child\/nurturing-care-framework\/en\/\">nurturing care for early childhood development in order to catalyze the transformation that the world seeks to achieve by 2030<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that by 2030 all must\nensure that both boys and girls have access to quality early childhood\ndevelopment, care and pre-primary education so as to prepare them for primary\neducation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that this initiative should\nultimately result in the design and roll out of high-quality nurturing care\ndevelopment program and services for all children in the country as this is\naimed at ensuring children survive and thrive through nurturing and care and\ntransform to contribute improved national productivity and growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Director General of the Ghana Health\nService (GHS) Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare who also graced the occasion stated that\nevery child has the right to survive and thrive and this fundamental right\nneeds to be upheld. He added that&nbsp;the effects of early experiences on the\nbrain and body explain significant disparities in health and learning\nespecially for children living in poverty. Accordding to him, optimal nutrition\nduring pregnancy and early infancy is essential for the well-being of both\nmother and baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further noted that healthcare\nservice provision plays a pivotal role in ensuring that nurturing of babies is\noptimal and therefore needs much consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nurturing care framework was initially launched globally at the 71st World Health Assembly on May 23,2018 by former President Michelle Bachelet\u00a0of Chile with the theme: \u201cNurturing care framework for early childhood development\u201d.
