Member of parliament elect for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency Lydia Seram Alhassan has been sworn in today in parliament despite controversies surrounding election results in the constituency last Thursday January 31,2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Minority chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak before the swearing in stated that their side of the house cannot recognize Lydia as the MP elect<\/a> and therefore cannot partake in the swearing in formalities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minority displayed placards and boycotted proceedings\nconfirming their earlier claims that they do not regard Lydia Seram Alhassan as\nthe elected member of parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 First Deputy Speaker\nof the house Joseph Osei Owusu however with the permission of the second Majority\nLeader Adwoa Sarfo administered the Oaths of Office and Allegiance to Lydia\nSeram Alhassan. Madam Alhassan has now formally inherited the seat of her\ndeceased husband Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko who passed on November 21,2018\nin the United States of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lydia’s entry to parliament raises the number of women to 38\nout of 275 members of the house representing about 13% of the total number. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana<\/a> Legon alongside many credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
