Twenty Ghanaian companies have been selected by the London Stock Exchange as having the ability to inspire Africa the year 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among other things, the companies were recognized for proving the ability to provide leadership for the next generation of African entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be included in the list, companies needed to be privately held, and show an excellent rate of growth and the potential to power African development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B-Bovid located at Mpohor near Takoradi in the Western Region is an agri-business based on social entrepreneurship principles. The fast growing enterprise is promoting a new model of socially-inclusive commercial farming combining innovative agricultural practices with ecological farming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Chief Executive Officer of B-bovid, Issa Ouedraogo, one of his goals is to use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems through innovation and technology in Agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When it comes to agriculture, everybody within the value should be a winner. Farmers toil in the hot sun, day-in and day-out, but often reap very little in terms of financial benefit. We want to help change this and improve the livelihoods of farmers and in turn, their communities” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The London Stock Exchange<\/a> Companies to inspire Africa 2019 report said, “The agricultural sector is an engine of job creation in Africa and accounts for about 60% of total employment in the Sub-Saharan region, while the share of jobs across the food system is potentially much larger. While expanding land under cultivation has boosted African agricultural production, it has come at an environmental cost. Technology has the answer to intensifying agricultural production sustainably without harming the environment, whether by providing access to finance for farmers, powering cooling systems for fresh produce or improving communications with markets”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \nreport was produced in partnership with the African Development Bank \nGroup, CDC Group, PWC and Asoko Insight who contributed their insight \nand expertise to select the featured companies, and the report is \nsponsored by Instinctif Partners and Stephenson Harwood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In all, 360 companies were listed in the Companies To Inspire Africa 2019 report. They range from diverse industry sectors from agriculture<\/a>, education to consumer goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
