\u00a0Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi, Yussif Sulemana says there is a need for some legislation to be put in place so as to deter people especially the youth from abusing the use of social media in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The legislator is of the fact that social media\nand therefore technology is a means of development and therefore it usage\nshould not be abused. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with APT NEWS<\/a> to mark the celebration of world radio day, the Bole-Bamboi legislator said it is about time comments made by people on all social media platforms are held responsible as this will serve as a deterrent to others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NDC MP also appreciated the efforts of journalists all over the world in their efforts to help in development and therefore stressed on the need for journalists to be cautious in their gathering and presentation of information to the masses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yussif Sulemana noted that information given out to the public might cause crises and in some extent lead to wars.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is obvious a radio station can bring war; a radio station can create problems for all of us; and so if you have the privilege to be a host or a radio presenter or whatever, you have a responsibility to ensure that your language is decorous, that you do not say anything because you can just say one thing and it will lead to chaos. We have seen it in other countries.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on welfare and security of media men in the country the MP, admitted that it is not the best.\u00a0 He therefore charged owners of media houses to ensure that benefits due journalists are given to them to enhance their lifestyle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also pleaded with the general public to desist from the kind of impunity meted out to media men in their field of work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
