Eleven (11) Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) of the Western Region<\/a> are expected to participate in the 2019 Edition of the Western Region Independence Day Inter-District JHS Quiz Competition slated for Saturday March 2, 2019 at the Skyy Power Fm\u2019s Odum Auditorium, Takoradi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s competition, which would be the\n fourth in series, according to the Executive Chairman of the Planning \nCommittee, His Royal Highness Obrempon Hima Dekyi XIV, the Paramount \nChief of Upper Dixcove Traditional Area of the Western Region, has been \nextended to eleven (11) Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies \n(MMDAs). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five more Municipal and District Assemblies have been \nadded to the existing six MMDAs which previously covered the Coastal \nbelt of the Western Region, namely Shama, Takoradi, Ahanta West \n(Defending Champions), Nzema East, Ellembele and Jomoro. The new MMDAs \nincluded in this year\u2019s competition are Wassa East, Tarkwa-Nsuaem, \nPrestea Huni Valley, Effia and Mpohor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Executive Chairman of \nthe Western Region Planning Committee added that the criterion for \nparticipation in the contest is based on the previous year\u2019s performance\n in the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \nparticipating schools would include, Abura M\/A GREL Basic School, Ahanta\n West (Defending Champions), Modern Educational Complex, Nawule, Jomoro,\n Christ Leading International School, Essiama, Ellembele, Christ the \nKing Academy, Axim, Nzema East, VRA International School, Aboadze, Shama\n District, St Anthony of Padua Catholic JHS, Effia-Kwesimintim, SIPL \nJHS, Daboase, Wassa East, Badu Addo Methodist JHS, Sekondi-Takoradi \nMetro, UMAT Basic School, Tarkwa, Golden Star Basic School, Prestea and \nBOPP Basic School, BOPP, Mpohor etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The competition will give participants the opportunity to answer questions regarding current affairs that will highlight on the developmental issues relating to the Western Region and of national interest, that is, culture and tradition, Oil and Gas, ICT, Science and Environment, Current Affairs as well as Arts and Sports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The headline sponsors for the event are Ghana \nGas, TAQA, Volta River Authority (VRA), Ghana Rubber Estate Ltd (GREL), \nAker Energy, Anglogold Ashanti, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority \n(GPHA), MTN and Nezo Oilfields. The event is also supported by African \nMining Services (AMS), BBS Trucks, REF Engineering, Oceaneering, Best \nWestern Plus Atlantic Hotel, Planters Lodge Hotel, Joy Oilfields and \nGeoquaye Electricals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s event is proudly partnered by \nthe Western Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, MMDAs \nand MPs of all participating constituencies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s programme which will start at exactly 11 am would be Chaired by the Vice President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs and Omanhene of Eastern Nzema Traditional Area, Awulae Amihere Kpanyinle III, and is expected to be graced by the Deputy Western Regional Minister Hon. Mrs. Gifty Eugenia Kusi, Hon. Mrs. Jacqueline Eunice Buah, Western Regional Representative of the Council of State as well as representatives from the corporate world such as the Managing Director of Anglogold Ashanti Mr. Jasper Musadaidzwa, General Manager of Takoradi International Company (TAQA) Mr. Ernest K. Osafo, Ghana Education Service, Clergy, Traditional rulers, Politicians and the general public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
