The 4th edition of the 2019 annual Western Region inter-district Independence Day quiz competition<\/a> was held on March 2, 2019 at the auditorium of Skyy Power Fm in the Effia-Kwesimtsim Municipal Assembly of the Western Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim and objective of the event was to promote the\nhistorical values of Ghana through quiz competitions among Junior High schools\nalong the coastal belt of the western region and to foster tolerance and mutual\nunderstanding between citizens and industries in the various communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Independence Quiz cup competition was organized in\nconjunction with ten MMDA’s Educational Directorates with support from the Chief\nExecutives of the assemblies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was climaxed with a grand durbar of Chiefs, Heads of Institutions,\nAssembly Members, Religious leaders, Civil Society Organizations, Media and\nother prominent citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participating schools for this year\u2019s quiz were drawn from Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Effia-Kwesimtsim, Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Jomoro Municipal Assemblies; Wassa East, Ellembelle, and Mporho Districts Assemblies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

UMAT Basic School from the Tarkwa-Nsuaem were crowned winners with 46 points. Christ Leading International School from Essiama in the Ellembelle District came 2nd with 38 points and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic JHS from Effia-Kwesimtsim Municipal Assembly came 3rd with 37 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was under the distinguished patronage and chairmanship of His Royal Highness Awulae Amihere Kpanyinle III, Vice President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of Eastern Nzema Traditional Area and also His Royal Highness Nana Hemaa Dekyi XIV, Omanhene of Upper Dixcove Traditional Area, who is also the Executive Chairman of the organizing planning committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to the media, the organizer for the annual Western Region\ninter-district Junior High School Independence Day Quiz competition, Nana Osei\nNkwantabisa said the selection of the participatory schools was considered on\nthe various Junior High Schools that excelled in the 2018 Basic Education\nCertificate Examination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is imposed on them as Chiefs from the western region as\ntraditional rulers to promote education in the various communities\u201d, Nana\nNkwantabisa stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

HE admitted challenges in this year\u2019s edition and will and\nassured it would be resolved through discussions with their sponsors and\nimprove in the years ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Queenmother of Shama Traditional Council, Nana Akosua\nGyamfiaba expressed her gratitude to the participants from the various Junior\nHigh Schools. She advised especially female basic school students to be \u2018friends\nwith their academic studies\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba further urged stakeholders to uplift and empower Girl and Boy Child Education to get good leaders for the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
