The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP)<\/a> has served noticed that pursuant to Article 18 of the party\u2019s constitution it shall hold an Extraordinary Regional Annual Delegates Conference on 4 May 2019 to elect officers to occupy vacant regional executive positions in the six new regions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \ndecision was arrived at by the party\u2019s National Executive Committee \n(NEC) at its meeting held on Tuesday, 12 March 2019, at the party \nheadquarters, and was subsequently ratified by National Council, same \nday. The meeting had in attendance President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice \nPresident Mahamudu Bawumia, the Chief of Staff, the party\u2019s National \nChairman and other NEC members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\n party\u2019s NEC further directed that, all persons serving as regional \nexecutives through appointment of elections in regions that have been \nsplit, have the option of choosing where they want to be, and shall \nmaintain their current positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf\n on the other hand, any regional officer is desirous of contesting for a\n different position, then he\/she shall vacate his\/her current position, \nin order to be eligible to contest for the new position. Consequently, \nthe position he\/she was occupying shall be declared vacant for fresh \nnominations to be filed,\u201d the NPP said in a statement signed by its \nGeneral Secretary John Boadu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also,\n National Council approved the composition of Standing and Adhoc \nCommittees of the Council comprising Finance Committee, Constitutional \nand Legal, Vetting Committee, Organizational Committee, Research \nCommittee, National Disciplinary Committee, Dispute Resolution \nCommittee, ICT Committee, Welfare Committee, Elections Committee, Events\n Committee, Communications Committee, and also approved additional names\n to the party\u2019s National Council of Elders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the impending extraordinary regional delegates\u2019 conference, the NPP said it shall soon come out with guidelines and modalities for the conduct of the conference in all the affected regions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
