Thomas Bismark Boakye has  expressed concern about the high rate of road accidents on Ghana&#8217;s roads and urged stakeholders in the transport sector to value safety in their operations, especially to reduce carnage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was addressing dignitaries and stakeholders at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aptnewsghana.com\/index.php\/2019\/03\/26\/international-safety-conference-awards-2019-comes-off-this-friday\/\">3rd International Safety Conference and Awards<\/a> at the Ghana Shippers Authority, Takoradi in Western region on Friday 29th March 2019. The annual event of the OSHAssociation UK-Ghana Region was on the theme: \u201cAdvancing Transportation Safety Through Sustainable Framework\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eng. Boakye indicated that OSHAssociation UK-Ghana Region has noted that  road accident is claiming the lives of Ghana\u2019s youth population. He added that OSHAssociation is committed to general safety and will continually engage road users on the best practices in safety to reduce road accidents in Ghana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eng. Boakye said Occupation Safety and Health Association UK (Ghana Region) in the past two years has managed to train about 40 safety officers who are currently working with different organizations since its establishment in 2017 and include road safety a serious responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also present at the conference and award ceremony was the OSHAssociation \u2013 UK, Nigeria Regional Administrator Eng. Emmanuel Uwalaka. He reiterated the global objective of OSHAssociation to promote development and professional practices in the health and safety and also assist in the capacity building of the African workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized that <a href=\"https:\/\/ghana.oshassociation.org\/about-us\/\">OSHAssociation<\/a> is keen on professional membership and recognized certification whiles also focusing on lack of safety compliance and providing advice and policies to safety units of different organizations in accordance with ISO 2018 certification standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eng.  Uwalaka advised the government of Ghana to step up measures to ensure safety on the roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 3rd International Safety Conference and Awards ceremony was well attended by industry
