The\n two biggest opposition parties are expected to meet the National Peace \nCouncil Tuesday to begin peace talks following continuous acts of \npolitically-motivated violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discussion, which was proposed by President Nana Akufo-Addo<\/a>,<\/strong> is expected to focus on disbanding the trained and organised youth groups who carry out the acts of violence for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\n directive was given almost two months ago when Akufo-Addo asked the \nleaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic \nCongress (NDC) to meet\u2026\u201cnext week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The President gave the directive after the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election<\/a> descended into violence when armed men stormed the opposition NDC candidate\u2019s\u00a0residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But arguments over the modalities of such a meeting \u2013 and\u00a0whether it is even necessary \u2013\u00a0 have stalled the talks until now. The NDC believes the President is cloaked\u00a0with the power to end hooliganism<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
