{"id":3516,"date":"2019-05-14T12:18:18","date_gmt":"2019-05-14T12:18:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aptnewsghana.com\/?p=3516"},"modified":"2019-05-14T12:18:30","modified_gmt":"2019-05-14T12:18:30","slug":"concerned-citizens-of-tarkwa-nsuaem-threaten-another-demo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aptnewsghana.com\/index.php\/2019\/05\/14\/concerned-citizens-of-tarkwa-nsuaem-threaten-another-demo\/","title":{"rendered":"Concerned Citizens of Tarkwa-Nsuaem threaten another demo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Concerned Citizens of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tarkwa\">Tarkwa-Nsuaem<\/a> are about to hit the streets of the municipality again with a massive demonstration against government for withholding their share of national development regarding road construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They have engaged the media at a press conference raising vital concerns that needs to be addressed by authorities on the 4 kilometer Wassa Agona to Tamso junction road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can be recalled that on the 10th of April this year, these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aptnewsghana.com\/index.php\/2019\/04\/10\/photos-tarkwa-goes-wild-over-deplorable-roads\/\">aggrieved residents embarked on a demonstration<\/a> which blocked haulage trucks and other commercial vehicles that ply on the Tarkwa-Nsuaem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br> According to the Concerned Citizens, about 760 trucks ply the Tarkwa-Nsuaem road for haulage purposes including cocoa beans, timber and other mining Machinery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 4 kilometer stretch is said to be among the daily vital usage roads in Ghana by serving as a route for a bauxite company at Awaso and the Ghana Manganese Company at Nsuta to haul its products to the Takoradi Harbour for export.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also addressing the media, the secretary to the Concerned Citizens of Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Samuel Kwasi Asare, stated that their research indicates that about 58,022 citizens in the municipality were diagnosed with Respiratory Tract Infection Diseases last year as a matter of dust pollution while countless number of shops and businesses remain closed as a result of the dust. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n\n &#8220;We are disappointed by authorities to the extent that &#8230; they told us that demonstrations does not construct roads&#8221;, Samuel K.
