The first lady of Ghana<\/a> Rebecca Akufo-Addo has donated six ambulances to some selected health institutions in the country.<\/p>\n

The donation was done on behalf of the Rebecca Foundation.<\/p>\n

The Rebecca Foundation is focused on reducing maternal mortality, improving the health of children as well as providing avenues to increase the economic contribution of women in the country.<\/p>\n

The donation forms part of the foundation\u2019s mission in supporting various institutions<\/a> whose mandate involves health and delivery in society.<\/p>\n

Presenting the keys to the ambulances, the first lady of the land stated that the ability of health delivery personnel to respond to emergencies on time is very important and cannot be overlooked at.<\/p>\n

She added that emergencies such as accidents, complications during childbirths among others are the foundation\u2019s motivation for the purchase for the said ambulances.<\/p>\n

The ambulances were donated with support from the Svani Group Limited, an authorized dealer of Renault vehicles in the country.<\/p>\n

The ambulances which were fully equipped with relevant medical materials such as stretchers, maternity kits, cardiac monitors, oxygen, gloves, syringes and burn kits were donated on Wednesday June 27, 2019.<\/p>\n

The beneficiaries were the Osu Maternity Home, the Sakumono Community Hospital, the Valley View University Hospital and the Rebecca Akufo-Addo Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital all in the Greater Accra Region. The rest were West Gonja District Assembly Polyclinic in the Northern Region and the Komfo Anokye Mother and Baby Unit in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n
