Ghana\u2019s first female Chief of Staff, Akosua\u00a0Frema Osei-Opare has urged authorities in all fields to give women the chance to lead.<\/p>\n
According to her women can do more if the glass-ceiling is removed and the fear of putting women at the helm by authorities is eliminated.<\/p>\n
She praised the courage of President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and said if he had not chosen her as the Chief of Staff she will not have reached that pedestal.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m urging many more people in authority to take that same risk that His Excellency took with me and give women a chance in your various endeavours,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She entreated people in authority to emulate the President in taking the \u201cbold step of stepping into unchartered waters,\u2019 and do something that has never \u201chappen before\u201d.<\/p>\n
Hon Osei-Opare was responding to an award given to her by the Excellent Leadership Group (ExLA Group) as the Model African Woman of the Year 2019.<\/p>\n
The award was given to her on day two of the 4th edition of the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) 2019. Held at the Bank of Ghana auditorium at the university of Ghana, Legon, Tuesday.<\/p>\n
She expressed joy at the recognition of her achievements while appreciating the ExLA Group for the honour done her.<\/p>\n
The Executive Director of Exla Group, Daniel Osei Tuffuor indicated that regardless of the difficulties of climbing and staying at the very top in leadership for women in Africa, Hon Osei-Opare has defied the odds and as such deserves recognition.<\/p>\n
Also at the event was the First Lady of the Republic Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo. She hailed the achievements of Hon. Osei-Opare and entreated young women to emulate her.<\/p>\n
YAWC is an annual Pan-African event organized by the Gender Desk of the ExLA Group. The event brings together young women across Africa.<\/p>\n
This years\u2019 YAWC has been themed “Grassroots Mobilisation for Women\u2019s Empowerment: Young Women Lead”.<\/p>\n
