The 7th annual Kuntum festival celebration by the Essikado Traditional Area – “British Sekondi” on the Ahanta land has been climaxed with a grand durbar at the forecourt of the palace of the Omanhene, Nana Kobina Nketsia V.<\/p>\n

The theme for the 2019 Kuntum festival was\u00a0\u2018the nature of corruption and morality in indigenous African community for nation building\u2019<\/p>\n

According to Nana Kobina Nketsia V, the Ahanta land and the entire western region has been enslaved with numerous divisions. He stated that chiefs were given the stool to establish peace and unity among indigenous in the community but not to bring divisions. He therefore urged indigenes of the western region to embrace peace among themselves.<\/p>\n

Nana Kobina Nketsia V, with deep emotions condemned the brutality that occurred in Dixcove a month ago which led the Omanhene of Lower Dixcove, Nana Akwesi Agyemang to be hospitalized at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.<\/p>\n

Also, In his submission Nana Kobina Nketsia V hinted that Nananom are ready to educate residents on sanitation issues.<\/p>\n

Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwamena Okyere-Darko Mensah speaking on the theme before Nananom and other dignitaries gathered said corruption is the use of entrusted power for personal gains. However, poverty is a weakness that is not allowing corruption to go away. “We need to glorify the right prosperity and encourage more individuals to enter into the private sector” Hon. Okyere-Darko said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the honourable minister noted that without character there is no way Ghanaians can develop the nation.<\/p>\n

In a brief solidarity message, the Managing Director of Karpowership-Ghana, Volkan Buyukbicer said festival expresses rich cultural values of people, foster unity and peace.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Volkan, the Karpower ship which the government of Ghana implemented in cooperation with relevant parties involved has successfully been stationed near the Sekondi Naval Base with 470 megawatts capacity to be injected into the national grid. “We are hopeful to be connected within 15 days to start producing electricity”, Mr. Buyukbicer said.<\/p>\n
