The Deputy Minister for Lands And Natural Resources Hon Naana Eyiah is on a two day tour in the Western North Region to interact with women affected by galamsey activities in the area.<\/p>\n
The tour follows reports of upsurge in anti-social vices that galamsey activities brought to these areas. The situation was even more worrying during the ban on illegal mining activities as most young women took to prostitution as the way to survive.<\/p>\n
Naana Eyiah reassured government’s commitment support to young women by providing vocational training to help them in their daily lives.<\/p>\n
Some beneficiaries of the vocational training said, this initiative by Hon Naana Eyiah is going to help them to live a meaningful live. They also thanked the minister for bringing such idea.<\/p>\n
Nana Beyeman Tano Kwaw Behuin III Omanhene of Aowin Traditional area he said, galamsey activities are causing the community and called on government to sustain the ‘Operation Vanguard” in the area.<\/p>\n
He reiterated that young ladies have taken advantage of the ban to involve in prostitution. “So, government should have a firm stand to help kick back this disgraceful menace”.
