The Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwamena Okyere-Darko Mensah has indicated that the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) at its level, will monitor to provide technical backstopping to ensure reaching out to people in their homes, workplaces and communities on the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u2018Backstopping\u2019 is a monitoring tool that supports the development and transfer of new evidences and innovations, based on research and practice and provides critical advisory support for process development, testing and implementation as well as their documentation and evaluation.<\/p>\n

Hon. Okyere-Darko Mensah made was addressing stakeholders at the launch of Public Education and Sensitization on coronavirus at the forecourt of Western Regional Co-ordinating Council in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.<\/p>\n

The gathering was to heed to the national call and to pool collective efforts to educate and take preventive measures<\/a> to protect families, communities and constituents against the novel corona virus “COVID-19”.<\/p>\n

It was a platform to empower and strategize themselves to give effect to the directives by H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at both the regional and local levels. \u00a0“If we do not know what we are fighting against, we may not be able to conquer it”, the Takoradi Member of Parliament emphasized.<\/p>\n

He indicated that chances of stopping the spread of the virus is by strictly adhering to the Public Health directives on social distancing, frequent hand washing, sanitizing the hands, disinfection of workplaces and surfaces.<\/p>\n

Reiterating \u00a0the directives of the president, Hon. Okyere-Darko Mensah<\/a> said all public gatherings including conferences, sporting events, political rallies, festivals, religious activities have been suspended for a month whiles supermarkets, shopping malls, restaurants, drinking spots among others should ensure standardized personal hygiene by providing hand sanitizers and hand washing bins.<\/p>\n

The Western Regional minister entreated stakeholders to spread the directives of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and not to spreading fear and panic on the novel corona virus.<\/p>\n

The WRCC also presented some items to augment the efforts made by some groups to help stop the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n
