Unipower Mining Company has presented items worth GHC 50,000 to three communities in its operational area in the Wassa East District of the Western Region. The company is currently undertaking gold exploration works at its Essaman site in the district.<\/p>\n
The large scale mining company supported the beneficiary communities; Abatumasu, Kakabo and Nsuta with 200 bags of cement, 60 plastic chairs, and half tone of iron rods as well as roofing sheets to help with the construction of a JHS classroom block and community center.<\/p>\n
The Corporate Affairs Officer of Unipower, Mr. Kwabena Ampem Darko, said the donation was the company\u2019s corporate social responsibility to attend to the pressing needs of the communities to better the lives of the people. He added that Unipower Mining is ready to do more as part of its priority to help improve the standard of living in the operational communities.<\/p>\n
Receiving the items, the Wassa East District Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Boakye, advised the communities to cooperate with the company in its activities.
\nHe appealed to Unipower Mining to help train the youth and employ them to bring development to the area. According to him, most of the youths in the district are not gainfully employed.<\/p>\n
