<\/p>\nPlayers in the Creative Arts industry in the Western Region have thrown their weight behind the nomination of MP for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira, Hon Catherine Abelema Afeku by President Akufo Addo for parliamentary approval to head the Ministry of Tourism Culture and Creative Arts.<\/p>\n
Executives of the local Unions of the Ghana Actors Guild, Musicians Union of Ghana and producers of Artifacts with a united front addressed a press conference calling on the Appointment Committee of parliament to expedite the vetting process and approve Hon. Afeku\u2019s nomination so she could come to salvage the industry.<\/p>\n
Chairman of the Western Regional Actors Guild Charles Egyir prayed on detractors of Hon. Afeku to ceasefire adding that the Creative Arts industry in the region have done their independent checks and believe in the wisdom of President Nana Addo that Hon. Catherine Afeku would deliver on executing the NPPs promise to the Tourism and Creative Arts Industry prior to the December 7 elections.<\/p>\n

According Mr Egyir, they see as unfortunate the anti-Afeku movement against the nomination of an indigene of the Western Region to manage the tourism and creative arts industry in Ghana, but believe it is a demonstration of the maturity of Ghana\u2019s democracy that allows the freedom to express one’s views for the right things to be done. He said the creative arts industry players in the Western Region have followed the reaction and the counter information given by the people of the Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira that exposes the mischief of the anti-Afeku movement to frustrate Mrs Afeku\u2019s appointment to function as a Minister for Tourism Culture and Creative Arts. He thanked all who are in support of Hon. Afeku\u2019s ministerial position.<\/p>\n
Western Regional Chairman of the Musicians Union of Ghana Joseph Atubiga was also convinced the appointment of an indigene of the region would revive the fallen fortunes of the industry which would affect the whole country.<\/p>\n
Also present at the press conference was award winning reggae musician Ras Kobi. He also pledged support for the new minister. However he says there is also the need for unity and purpose within the creative arts fraternity to make things work for them.<\/p>\n
