Female dancehall artiste, Abrewa Nana has expressed her disgust at the culture of artistes throwing jabs at each other in their songs.<\/p>\n

The \u2018beefing\u2019 craze, which has gained currency among Ghanaian hiplife and dancehall artistes, has been viewed by many as that which keeps the music scene alive. Some have also said it is a means of promotion for artistes involved.<\/p>\n

Abrewa Nana has, however, told citifmonline.com<\/a> in an interview that the act could result in calamities if not checked.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe industry thinks it is fun but it is not funny and it takes us nowhere. After diss, what? Makeup? One of these days there will be deaths out of such act and then we will admit it is not healthy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

When asked her opinion on the performance of female musicians, especially those who do her style of music, Abrewa Nana said the female artistes are doing well for themselves but can be better.<\/p>\n

\u201cOthers are not really doing dancehall but they call themselves as such. But I appreciate all of them. At don\u2019t have any favourite. They are all doing well,\u201d Abrewa Nana further noted.<\/p>\n

How is Abrewa Nana planning to redeem her space in the music industry? She is optimistic of a stronger comeback.<\/p>\n

\u201cRe-launching myself has not been tough since I\u2019m not a new artiste and knowing how I have paid my dues, competition doesn\u2019t scare me,\u201d she intimated.<\/p>\n

Abrewa Nana who recently released her single, \u2018Who I be\u2019 hinted of a project she\u2019s embarking on which will blow the minds of music fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are going to be other releases soon and I am just here to stay to contribute to the growth of the industry, to motivate and encourage through my music and to support who needs mine,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

Born Dorcas Opoku Darkwa on 3rd December, 1980, Abrewa Nana stepped the threshold of the music industry in 2000. She has songs like Saga, Odo Filla, Esisi Me So ft. Samini, among others.<\/p>\n

Abrewa was nominated in the Ghana Music Awards in 2000, 2001, 2002 in the New Artiste of the Year, Hiplife song of the Year and Best Female Vocalist of the Year categories, respectively.<\/p>\n
