Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko cannot be faulted for tagging former President John Mahama as corrupt, for which reason the current Minority in parliament are holding on to his approval because everyone knows Mr Mahama presided over corruption, Mathew Nyindam, First Deputy Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Kpandai, has said.
The Appointments Committee of parliament has approved some eight ministerial nominees with the exception of Mr Agyarko and Yaw Osafo Marfo, Senior Minister-designate, who were vetted because the two were alleged to have made some comments deemed inimical to the country.
However, speaking in an interview with Class 91.3FM\u2019s parliamentary correspondent Ekow Annan on Friday January 27 at Parliament, Mr Nyindam said: \u201cWe have these two gentlemen who have distinguished themselves very well. I think these two gentlemen, Honourable Osafo Marfo, who is the Senior Minister-[designate], our uncle, who is endowed with knowledge and if you look at the Energy Minister-designate, Boakye Agyarko also distinguished himself very well, is quite knowledgeable, intelligent but the Minority seem to have one or two problems about them.
\u201cThe Minority feels that there are certain trivial issues they want to hold on to. Boakye Agyarko, they said he had alleged that former President Mahama was corrupt. John Mahama, His Excellency the former president, presided over corruption and everybody in the country is aware and that is why the Ghanaian people rejected him. So, if Boakye Agyarko has made that comment on the campaign trail, why do you want to hold on to this kind of issue?
\u201cIn any case, we have given them considerable time. We felt that this nation is ours and let all of us put ourselves together and reason together, but if they want to stay out of these two gentlemen\u2019s approval, we will do it for Ghanaians.\u201d<\/p>\n
