Award-winning actor and politician, John Dumelo has pulled out of the National Democratic Congress primary slated to elect a candidate to represent the party for the upcoming bye elections following the death of Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko of the New Patriotic Party.
A statement from the NDC in the constituency said John Dumelo and another candidate, Ewoenam Y. A. Attidokpo withdrew from the race “due to some personal reasons.”
It is unclear as yet what the “personal reason” for John Dumelo’s withdrawal from the race, but is believed that party hierarchy prevailed upon him to withdraw and target a seat in the Volta Region where he hails and votes from.
