General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has described as fake an arrest warrant for troubled gold dealership company, Menzgold Ghana Limited, CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah.
According to Mr. Asiedu Nketia, the document was just part of government’s plan to cover up the relationship between Nana Appiah Mensah and President Akufo-Addo.
To General Mosquito, there is no way a warrant would be issued in the name of the President, hence the document is fake and therefore should be disregarded.
“Have you heard any warrant issued in the name of President, how the President comes in. They have intentionally come up with a warrant and a circuit court stamp just to fool us. No circuit judge will command you in the name of the President” he said.
An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday issued a warrant for the arrest of the embattled company founder, who is popularly known as NAM1.
He has been accused of the offense of defrauding by false pretense contrary to section 131 of Act 29/60.
Two other individuals, Benedicta Appiah and Rose Tetteh, are also to be arrested by the police.
The issue of the warrant comes on the back of a demonstration in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, by some angry Menzgold customers who burnt vehicle tyres and blocked a major road.
But General Mosquito as he is affectionately called said President Akufo-Addo cannot wean himself off the now fugitive, NAM1.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, the NDC chief scribe stated the NDC has records to show that President Akufo-Addo knows NAM 1 and has been dealing with him and Kwasi Nyantakyi.
“He cannot dissociate himself from these two people. I have records of how President Akufo-Addo was using Kwasi Nyantakyi for his dealings.” He said.
