A former DCE and now MP for Wassa Amenfi Central, Hon Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah has called on the NPP government led by Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo to focus on their campaign promise and stop undermining press freedom and use of state security to intimidate the opposition.

He gave the advice on Sunday 12 May 2019 at Manso Amenfi, the district capital when he organized a town hall meeting with the people to let them know what is going on in parliament and also take their concerns to parliament as part of his duties.

“As a member of parliament you need to meet your people from time to time to let them know what you are doing in parliament and also take their concerns to parliament” he said.

Speaking to aptnewsghana.com reporter Awuni Dominic, the lawmaker also stated clearly that the action by the National Communication Authority (NCA) against two radio stations, Radio XYZ and Radio Gold is politically motivated because the NCA dare not touch station like Oman FM and other pro-NPP radio station no matter how bad they behave; this he said was unfortunate and a threat to Ghana’s democracy.

“As a government you have to listen to the other side to shape your policies but if this is how they are going, it means they’re digging their own graves and will lose  coming 2020 election because they have failed Ghanaians”, he told Dominic.
