Every Ghanaian, irrespective of status, gender, ability, tribe, and colour must be empowered by the state as the country prepares to mark its 60th anniversary, Nana Oye Lithur, former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection has said.

Ghana turns 60 on 6th March, 2017 and as part of preparations for the anniversary, the planning committee for the anniversary has, among other activities, unveiled the anniversary cloth for the celebration. The cloth comes in four different colours: white, cream, blue, and green with the 60th anniversary logo embossed on each. According to the committee, the wholesale price for the cloth is GHS220 with the retail price pegged at GHS240.

The cloth was unveiled at a ceremony in Accra on Thursday 23 February.

Commenting on the anniversary on her Twitter account, Mrs Lithur said: “Everyone must be empowered. At 60 years, we will only make progress if we factor our vulnerable groups in our social development.”
