The Minister of Fisheries and Aqua Culture Elizabeth Quaye has encouraged women to venture more into agriculture and compete fairly with the men; saying women can do more than want they are currently doing.
She cautioned that “agriculture shouldn’t be left for the uneducated; let the educated know that when you are educated and understand best practice in agriculture, when you understand the right things to do regarding agricultural production and also food processing, then you can do well and do it to the best”, she said.
Speaking in an interview with Queen Mabel on Melody FM’s Brunch Extra as the world celebrated women on March 8 2017, the Fisheries and Aqua Culture Minister also urged women to emulate their compatriots who are excelling in their various fields of endeavor.
“There are some women who have been able to achieve certain height in society. And these women are women just like us, so we should also emulate their effort, we should emulate the good things that they have done and life will become better than it is now”, she explained.
Madam Elizabeth Quaye noted that about 90 percent of women are currently engaged in agriculture and also combining child bearing but God has given them the strength to endure and do things hitherto thought to be the preserve of men.
