Ghana Police Service
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 47-year-old woman, Beatrice Mumuni, in connection with the killing of two relatives at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, in the Greater Accra Region, and declared the alleged principal suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, wanted and offers GHC 100,000 for information leading to his arrest.
The arrest follows the fatal shooting of 57-year-old George Atuguba and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba, at their residence on Friday, October 30, 2026.
In a statement announcing the arrest, the Police said Mumuni is suspected of leading Osei Anto to the victims’ residence before the killings occurred.
Meanwhile, Osei Anto has been declared wanted to assist investigations, with the Police announcing a GH¢100,000 reward for credible information leading to his arrest.
The Police have appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of Samuel Christopher Osei Anto.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to report to the nearest Police station or contact the Ghana Police Service through its emergency numbers:
The Police say the reward is intended to encourage public cooperation in the ongoing efforts to apprehend the wanted suspect.
According to preliminary police investigations, the double murder may have been triggered by a financial disagreement involving George Atuguba and the principal suspect.
The Police indicate that George Atuguba had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from Osei Anto but had failed to repay the money.
On the morning of Friday, October 30, Osei Anto reportedly visited the victims’ residence accompanied by Beatrice Mumuni to demand repayment of the alleged debt.
A misunderstanding reportedly ensued during the encounter, during which Osei Anto allegedly shot George Atuguba and his niece, Irene, resulting in their deaths.
Police officers from the Sakumono District Police Command who responded to the incident found the two victims at the residence with gunshot wounds.
They were subsequently rushed to hospital, where a medical officer pronounced them dead.
Their bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The arrest of Beatrice Mumuni represents a significant development in the investigation into the killings.
She is suspected of accompanying the wanted principal suspect to the victims’ residence before the shooting.
The Police have not yet disclosed further details about her alleged involvement or the specific evidence leading to her arrest.
Her arrest does not, however, establish guilt. Investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and the respective roles of those involved.
The Ghana Police Service is continuing efforts to locate and apprehend Samuel Christopher Osei Anto.
The Baatsona Divisional Police Command is handling investigations into the case, as authorities seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and bring all persons suspected of involvement before the law.
The Police have urged the public to cooperate with investigators and provide any credible information that could assist in locating the wanted suspect.
The Sakumono double-murder case has drawn public attention, particularly because preliminary investigations point to an alleged financial disagreement involving GH¢500,000.
As the investigation progresses, the public will be looking to the Police for further updates on the manhunt, the arrested suspect and the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths of George and Irene Atuguba.
