WAMCo Accident: Police releases preliminary report

The Ghana Police Service have released a report detailing findings on the fatal accident which took the lives of three and injured 19 workers of West African Mills Company Limited on Thursday July 14, 2016. The accident occured at Komenda Sefwi near Beposo on the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway.

Workers of the West African Mills in Takoradi, (WAMCO), a cocoa processing firm, who were involved in the gory accident, were reported to have been on their way to follow up on a petition they presented to parliament concerning the shutdown of the company which had rendered them jobless. The Mercedes Benz sprinter bus with registration number ER 1219-14, in which they were travelling, collided head-on with a military ambulance with registration number 4 GA57.

Three of the 22 workers died upon arrival at the hospital, and the others sustained various degrees of injuries. The deceased are: Richard Koomson, an electrician, Charles Pinkrah, a former laboratory technician and Victor Essel Cudjoe, a quality coordinating officer.
