40 kilometers of road in STMA due for maintenance

Public Relations Officer of Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly John Laste has disclosed that 40 kilometers of road in the metropolis have been earmarked for reshaping.

According to him 20 kilometers riddled with potholes will be patched.

Several kilometers of road in the Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolis are becoming immotorable.

Scores of residents have heaped a barrage of criticisms on city authorities for watching on unconcerned.

This has led to a series of soft demonstrations.

Earlier resident of New Takoradi blocked their road in protest of the bad nature.

Skyy news understands some commercial drivers in other parts of the metropolis are bracing themselves up for a string of demonstrations.

However, giving an update of the road situation Mr. Laste stated that a good number of kilometers of road are due for maintenance.

“The publication has been done for interested contractors to apply. Looking at the process these contracts have to go through it is my expectation that it will take a month for the process to be completed to enable the selected contractor to move to site. We [STMA] are not in charge of the procurement process. It is being managed in from Accra”

He said: The 40 kilometers that was given to STMA, we have to determine the roads to be captured. Therefore in the process we have selected 20 kilometers for pothole patching and another 20 kilometers for re ceiling across the metropolis. I can confirm that the Kansaworado to Mampong road will be a beneficial. In fact, 10 kilometers of the road will be reshaped.
