According to the Shama District Chief Executive Hon. Joseph Amoah, the increase in the activities of the fishermen in most fishing communities motivated the government of Ghana to assist and subsidize the premix fuel to boost their fishing activities

He emphasized that the community benefits fifty three percent (53%) of the profits from premix transactions .

Meanwhile during the year under review the three (3) communities with Shama managed to accumulate an amount of over One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 120.000.00) which was a massive improvement over the past decades

The Landing Beach Committees across the country are made up of a Chairman (Chief Fisherman/Headman), representatives from Canoe Owners, Fishmongers, Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the District Assembly.
