Landing Beach Committee Executives in the Shama District of the Western Region in conjunction with the District Assembly have presented its annual financial reports on the Community Fund.

This was at an Accountability Forum with the fisher folks at Shama yesterday 29th January 2019.
The annual premix forum bring together Landing Beach Committees from Shama Apo, Shama Castle View and Shama Bentsir respectively to be abreast with the income and expenditure accounts of the premix fuel transactions.

The three Landing Beach Committees acknowledged the support from the Shama District Assembly but revealed there were challenges. The various Committees rendered a detailed account which majority of the fisher folks appreciated the their effective management.

According to the Shama District Chief Executive Hon. Joseph Amoah, the increase in the activities of the fishermen in most fishing communities motivated the government of Ghana to assist and subsidize the premix fuel to boost their fishing activities

He emphasized that the community benefits fifty three percent (53%) of the profits from premix transactions .

Meanwhile during the year under review the three (3) communities with Shama managed to accumulate an amount of over One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 120.000.00) which was a massive improvement over the past decades

The Landing Beach Committees across the country are made up of a Chairman (Chief Fisherman/Headman), representatives from Canoe Owners, Fishmongers, Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the District Assembly.
