John Mahama Describes NDC Shooting As “Criminal Act”…Calls For Full Investigations

Former President John Dramani Mahama has strongly condemned the shooting incident at the party office in the Ashanti Region that left one person dead and another seriously injured.

In a Post on his facebook wall, the former president explained that it is “clearly a criminal act” and has thus called on the police and the relevant security agencies to investigate immediately and apprehend the culprits and subject them to the full rigours of the law.

One person has been confirmed dead in the tragic incident while another sustained serious injuries after a free-for-all gunfight ensued during a top-brass meeting.

The meeting between the National Executives of the party turned bloody when an unidentified gunmen from rival factions, stormed the premises of the venue and fired into the gathering.

PeaceFM’s and UTV’s Senior Correspondent for the Ashanti Region, Sampson K. Nyamekye, who was at the scene, reports that in the process Wassiu Iddris, an NDC activist lost his life, while Abdul Issa is on admission at the intensive care unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

I have just been briefed about a shooting incident that occurred in front of the Ashanti Regional Office of the NDC leading to the death of one person and injury to another.

I strongly condemn this incident. It is clearly a criminal act, and I call on the police and relevant security agencies to investigate, immediately apprehend the culprits and subject them to the full rigours of the law.
