Photos: Ghanaian Muslims mark Mawlid in Sekondi

The Office of the Western Regional Chief Imam in collaboration with the office of the National Chief Imam on Saturday 16th February 2019 has held this year’s Mawlid – remembering Prophet Muhammad.

The celebration at Sekondi Zongo in the Western Region mark’s the maiden edition of annual regional commemorations to acknowledge, honor and appreciate the birth of Prophet Muhammad. .

In his address, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia said the congregation gives the opportunity to conduct self introspection of Muslims and Ghanaians to get back to the straight path in accordance to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad

The exemplary life style of Prophet Muhammad has become perfect methodology of guidance for mankind, the vice president added.

He emphasized that the government of Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo will forever be grateful to the citizens of Ghana for entrusting the governance of the country to the New Patriotic Party as well as their patience displayed as the government lays the foundation to bring the country back on track.

He urged the Muslim Youth’s in the Zongo communities to live responsible lives, be self disciplined and to live peacefully with all faiths in Ghana. He also advised them to make education a priority.

Vice President Dr Bawumia, who is an economist and former governor of the Bank of Ghana, said the performance of the economy and inflation has seen remarkable improvement.

The event was also graced by His Eminence National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharibukutu, the Western Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Uztaz Ali Hassan Ali, Minister of Zongo and Inner Cities Development, Mustapha Hammid and others.
