Mahama eulogizes Lee Ocran

Former President John Mahama has eulogized former Education Minister, Lee Ocran who passed away on Thursday.

Mahama who said he is saddened by the demise of the NDC stalwart described him as “a fine gentleman.”

“It’s been a sad morning for me. I just want to express my condolences to [Auntie] Sati and the children on the passing of our comrade, Lee Ocran. Lee has been a fighter in the trenches. We’ve been in the trenches together. For everybody who knows him, we have lost a very fine member of our party. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he said on Friday.

Lee Ocran who was also a former High Commissioner to South Africa according to the sources died on Thursday night at his residence in Accra.

The National Democratic Congress stalwart had taken ill days earlier.

Speaking in an interview on Accra based Radio Gold on Friday, Mahama said he will be visiting the family of Lee Ocran later in the day to console them.

Lee Ocran who was also a former High Commissioner to South Africa according to the sources died on Thursday night at his residence in Accra.

Speaking in an interview on Accra based Radio Gold on Friday, Mahama said he will be visiting the family of Lee Ocran later in the day to console them.

“I will be visiting his family this afternoon to extend my condolences. I visited him while he was in the hospital. Our hope was that he would get better, unfortunately, it’s God who gives and he takes and so my sincerest condolences to Lee Ocran’s family especially Auntie Sati,” he added.

Mr. Ocran also served as the chairman of the Volta River Authority’s Board of Directors in the Mahama administration.
