Muntaka seeks action against Trade Minister for disrespect

Member of Parliament for Asawase, who doubles as the Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed says he will file a sensor against Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng for his failure to attend upon the house to answer questions in relation to his outfit by some three members of the house.

Mr. Muntaka noted that for the minister to decline invitation to answer questions on the floor for three consecutive times is a sign of disrespect to the house and therefore the necessary actions ought to be taken so ministers of state take businesses of the house seriously.

‘’Mr. Speaker he doesn’t want to come and answer to the people but when it came to the President, they were all sitting here’’. Muntaka added.

However, Deputy Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Sarfo in response to Mr. Muntaka’s claims says the minister has written to parliament asking permission to travel to the United Kingdom (U.K) with Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia for a summit.

She also stated that the Minority Chief Whip is blowing the issue out of proportion.  She backed her claims with order 93(2) of the standing orders of the house.

She added that the trade minister Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng is only attending to functions equally important to him as a minister and the nation as a whole and hence the minister will come and answer the questions put in his name.

Playing the devil’s advocate, Speaker of Parliament Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye directed that leadership of the house should discuss the issue at hand and help the house deal with matters of such nature in the future.
