Gov’t to roll-out online construction Permit Processing System

The Ministry of Local government and Rural Development in collaboration with Business Enabling Environment Project (BEEP) is set to roll out the user community training on construction Permit Processing System (PPS) in March this year.

This is part of efforts to reduce the stress associated with the acquisition of building permit by individuals, contractors and all involved in the putting up of structures.

The PPS is aimed at reducing the stress and inconveniences contractors and individuals bare in obtaining permits for structures in the country.

The PPS will be an online portal where applicants can apply for permit and all other transactions in relation to permit acquisitions.

Briefing a section of the media in Accra on Tuesday 26, 2019, Samuel Duodo, a technical advisor to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development said this initiative will bridge the gaps and potholes in the system.

He was of the view that online transactions will save time and also do away with human interference which will help reduce the period for the approval of permits.

In an interview with aptnewsghana.com, consultant for PPS Nana Kofi Anane Adjei said, it has become necessary for them to upgrade in this era of technology where everything is backed by its usage.

He noted that with the online application now, applicants will not worry about their applications been locked up without access to them. He added that consultants for PPS are ever ready to start the initialization.

The rollout will be done nationwide with Accra Metropolitan Assembly (A.M.A.) and its environs been the first point of contact due to the fact that they constitute about eighty (80) percent in the building of structures in the country.
