Tamale: Ghana@62 Independence Day Celebrations in pictures

Ghana is marking its 62nd independence day anniversary in the Northern regional capital Tamale. It is the first time ever that the annual celebration has beem moved outside the capital, Accra.

Government has explained the decision is to deepen the sense of national unity and particularly drum home the importance of peace in a region where a bitter protracted chieftancy conflict has now been resolved.

Spotting colour and culture on this day, guests and dignitaries have been filling the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in an event that has already achieved a target of excitement in Tamale.
