Ghanaian teenager Javits Frimpong, 15, has been shot dead in the Bronx. His father raises concerns over alleged school bullying as police investigate.

A 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager, Javits Frimpong, has been shot and killed in the Bronx, New York, with his grieving father raising concerns about alleged bullying his son had reportedly experienced at school.

The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, October 29, 2026, shortly before 9:30 a.m. local time, near East 171st Street and Crotona Place in the Claremont section of the Bronx.

According to reports by New York-based media outlets, police officers responding to the incident found Javits with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The teenager’s death has left his family devastated and renewed concerns about bullying among schoolchildren and the safety of young people in their communities.

Father Raises Alarm Over Alleged Bullying

Javits’ father, Thomas Frimpong, has expressed grief and frustration over the death of his son, revealing that the teenager had previously complained about being bullied by other students.

In an interview with News 12, Thomas said school authorities had contacted him a few days before the shooting to inform him about an incident involving his son and two other students.

According to the father, the two students had reportedly been suspended after concerns were raised about their alleged bullying of Javits.

Thomas said his son had repeatedly complained about being harassed, including during lunchtime at school.

The revelations have raised questions about whether the reported bullying was connected to the fatal shooting. However, authorities have not publicly established a motive, and the circumstances surrounding the killing remain under investigation.

Described as Quiet Boy With Dreams of Becoming a Doctor

Thomas Frimpong described his son as a quiet and well-behaved teenager who generally kept to himself and avoided trouble.

According to the family, Javits had aspirations of becoming a doctor in the future, a dream that has now been cut short by his untimely death.

His father said the teenager had moved from Ghana to the United States approximately one year before the tragedy, arriving on October 28, 2025, in the hope of pursuing a better future.

The tragic loss has left the family struggling to come to terms with the death of a young boy whose life and ambitions were still unfolding.

Police Search for Suspects

The New York Police Department (NYPD) is investigating the fatal shooting and searching for those suspected of involvement.

Reports by New York media outlets indicate that investigators are looking for three male suspects, believed to be teenagers or young adults, who were reportedly seen fleeing the area after the shooting.

Some reports said the suspects were dressed in black clothing, with descriptions also mentioning blue surgical masks.

No arrests had been reported in the sources reviewed, and police had not publicly confirmed a motive for the killing.

The NYPD has appealed to members of the public who may have information about the incident to assist investigators.

Anyone with information can contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Tips can be submitted confidentially.

Father Appeals to Suspects to Surrender

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Javits’ father has appealed to those responsible for his son’s death to surrender themselves to the police.

The grieving father is seeking justice for his son as investigators continue efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify those responsible.

For the family, the loss is particularly painful because Javits was only 15 years old and had his entire future ahead of him.

The case has also drawn attention to the importance of taking bullying complaints seriously and ensuring that students who report harassment receive appropriate protection and support.

While the investigation continues, the family is left mourning a son whose aspirations of becoming a doctor will remain unfulfilled.
