Traffitech GH
The Ghana Police Service has urged motorists and vehicle owners to exercise caution when receiving traffic violation notifications and follow approved procedures for verifying and paying fines under the newly operational Trafitech-GH system.
In a press release dated November 4, 2026, the Police Service announced that the Trafitech-GH project, designed to automate the enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations in Ghana, officially took effect on November 1, 2026.
The initiative, being implemented by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, is expected to strengthen road traffic law enforcement through automated monitoring and processing of traffic violations.
The Police said motorists are required to observe road traffic regulations and follow approved procedures when verifying and settling traffic fines to avoid falling victim to fraud.
According to the Police, motorists who receive traffic violation notifications must first check whether the sender ID is GPS MTTD.
The Service stressed that genuine traffic violation notifications will not be sent from ordinary mobile phone numbers.
Recipients are also advised to open their Electronic Notice of Violation (ENV) or ticket to verify the vehicle’s photograph, registration number, location, date and time of the alleged offence.
Where video evidence is available, motorists are encouraged to watch the footage to confirm the circumstances surrounding the violation.
The Ghana Police Service has outlined two approved payment channels for motorists who have verified their traffic violation tickets.
1. Payment through the NIB Payment Portal
Motorists can settle their fines through the NIB Payment Portal by following these steps:
Select the “Make Payment” option.
Enter the relevant ticket number.
Verify the displayed details and follow the payment prompts to complete the transaction.
2. Payment through USSD
Motorists can also pay their traffic fines using the USSD option by dialling *710*0# and following the instructions.
The Police have advised motorists to use their ticket numbers when making payments through the USSD platform.
In a safety advisory, the Ghana Police Service cautioned motorists and vehicle owners against fraudulent payment requests associated with the Trafitech-GH system.
The Service strongly warned the public against paying traffic fines into personal mobile money numbers or through unofficial accounts.
Motorists have been advised to remain vigilant and ensure that all payments are made exclusively through the approved channels to prevent financial losses.
For assistance and further enquiries concerning the system, the public can contact the Ghana Police Service on 059 692 2402.
The Police Service expressed appreciation to motorists, vehicle owners and transport operators for their cooperation and support as the country moves towards automated traffic law enforcement.
The Service said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote safer roads and ensure compliance with road traffic laws and regulations.
With Trafitech-GH now operational, motorists are expected to familiarise themselves with the verification and payment procedures while exercising greater responsibility on the roads.
The success of the system will depend not only on effective enforcement but also on public awareness, transparency and motorists’ willingness to comply with road safety regulations.
